Soothing

Kids often have things with their names on; cups, towels and pencil-cases. I had very few of those things because my name was not that common back than. I remember feeling very annoyed that my brother had a cup with his name while I had a cup without a name (my dad had plans for "writing" my name on it, with some kind of "pen").

"Malin" comes from the Swedish "Magdala", meaning; "woman from Magdala". In the Bible there is mentioned in particular ONE woman from Magdala, and it says that Jesus delivered her from 7 evil spirits. Other than that is things that can be debated. Some claim that it was Mary Magdalene whom washed Jeus`feet and anointed them with oil, while others claim she was Marthas and Lazarus`sister.

For me its been hard to relate to the "woman from Magdala".

Than two years ago a teacher at the SOE prophesied over each of us, saying to me that I would be like an oak. Also, a guy doing the DTS that year was very much into the Elvish language (as in the fictional books/movies and not the singer!! ;P ). He showed me an website where the Elvish "meaning of names" could be found, mine being: "Tower".

Now recently I discovered that if you place an "a" after my name - "Malina" - it means; "tower, soothing" - in Hebrew. Now that I like!!!

What I don`t "get" is how it being only one letter away from my name, still my name comes from a name that doesn`t even sound related to my name... Therefore I`ve "decided" that if people ever ask what my name means - that will be my answer. :) "Cheating?" I don`t see it that way.

(And, on a side note: Who is "Mary Magdalene"?? - except from being one who Jesus threw 7 demons out of... I will try to write more about that in another blog.)
